Dota pre-amble

Dota

So, one of the things that I will be doing for the first 4 days of my trip is watching The International
This the major tournament for Dota 2, a competitive team based computer game. The prize pool this year is over $10 million (more than the PGA Masters to give it some perspective)

In case anyone is curious what the hell I'm going over there to watch, this year the International has a Newbie friendly stream to cater for people who have no prior experience playing the game and want to check it out:

The competition kind of runs like the World Cup. There is a group stage where everyone plays everyone else to determine final standings, and then the top half of the field plays in an elimination style bracket to determine the winner. I'm going over to watch the tournament, but the group stages are happening now. If you want a game to start off with, this one has been one of the best I've seen of the first day's play:

You can also watch the matches from within the Dota 2 client (a free download from Steam).
The quality is better in game, but it's a bit more mucking about. If you do that you'll want to go to the Watch tab, open up The International 2014 via the drop down arrow, hit the right arrow towards the bottom of the page to find iG VS DK for 10 July 2014 (it's on page 2 right now, but that will probably have changed), hit details, download replay, and then watch replay (once it has downloaded).
A few seconds after the replay starts you should get a Select a broadcaster window. You want the last one (the one with the #NewToDota hashtag).
