Stuff I've Seen - Fukuoka

A pizza festival

complete with inflatable italian

And this odd duo:

This guy wearing ballloons was headed to the park

which is next to the castle

It was a saturday and the Sakura were in full bloom so a lot of
people were setting up to have a picnic in the park.

Or just out walking their dogs

The Sakura from a different angle

Ohori park has a lake in the middle

Which has a small section designated for fishing.
I suppose this is technically legal.

The Fukuoka marathon was coming up, so people were out training.
This is the mascot of the marathon I assume.

There was also a tulip festival coming up.

There was a period costume event advertised on the Fukuoka Tourism website
But it turned out to be more of a cosplay event.

There was a stage

with people singing

This is not period clothing

The first two girls were actually a duo

although the best thing about their performance was that they had exactly one fan,
and he was enthusiastic enough to make up for the general indifference from the remainder of the crowd.

From my observation this is the pose that is made in front of Sakura

The view from up on top of the castle of the Sakura

I went to an arcade near the station

There are a ridiculous number of games that involve bringing collectible cards
that then interact with the game in some way.

The train driving game

The pods for Gundam Fightan Robots

Inside the pod

One of those physical pong machines

A better view of the ball and paddles

VR experiences

River rafting

Godzilla hunting

MarioKart VR

The hydraulic racing seats
These people are not ready to re-enter the matrix:

A Buddhist temple

with Pagoda

Underneath the temple are scenes from Buddhist hell

More scenes from Buddhist hell

The same artist's rendition of his party from his
Thursday night Dungeons and Dragons campaign
Not depicted: The pitch black maze to get out of Buddhist hell.

This is a smaller shrine across

This shrine behind it contains the eight hundred year old bones of a mermaid

The mermaid was purportedly 187 meters long.
Drinking tea made with its bones is said to protect one from disease.

A loom at a nearby Craft Museum.
