Stuff I've Eaten - Osaka Edition

chicken and tofu appetizer

chicken and green onion

chicken with wasabi and seaweed

close up

green peppers with bonito flakes

fried chicken

skin

wing

sake

"pickled" cucumber

with some sort of mayo

with yuzu pepper

minced between lotus root slices and deep fried

vegetables in butter sauce

yuzu-shu

duck

tender pork

fatty pork

ponzu belly

yuzu-shu and soda

it's better on the rocks

head meat

mushroom

cod roe in a bread roll, breakfast of champions

ramen for lunch

Crab buffet for dinner

all sorts of goodies

none of which are as good as just crab

half steamed half chilled

many many vodka tonics

the damage

dessert, minus the mont blanc, which was neither mont nor blanc.

The pink variety of the Strawberryverymuch frappuccino

buns from china town

the filling lets down a delicious bun which by my estimation is 50-50 lard and semolina

strawberry tiramisu to prove a point

kobe beef in kobe

with garlic chips, konjac? vegetables

rice, pickles

more vegetables added as they cook
Dinner that night was at a fairly expensive Kaiseki restaurant called 西天満 岩さき
Firefly squid with pate

squid and tuna sashimi.
The way the squid was cut, scored on both sides in opposite diagonals made it so tender

bamboo shoots? scallops and eel

truffle on abalone and white asparagus in an abalone sauce

sake

caviar on potato on uni on eel

bamboo, not brocolli, and fish (maybe tai)

We were shown an upcoming course. Bear and green stuff.

fish on some of the best cherry tomatos I have ever had,

bear and tofu soup, with green stuff.
Bear is pretty fatty, and I wouldn't go out of my way to have it, but it's not bad.

white bait and raw egg on rice, with pickles

Warabi mochi

Sushi train for lunch

most of these are labelled

I didn't eat this, but it was noteworthy

salmon belly at a guess

toro

green tea

    1. Aly bought it for me, so I don't know too much about it other than it was bready, salty, fishy, and delicious.
