I awoke the next morning to a little bit of snow |
![]() |
The Ryokan was kind enough to drop me off at the start of the snow monkey path. |
![]() |
It starts off a bit steep |
![]() |
But it is mostly a path that slopes gently upwards |
![]() |
With a fall to certain death off one side |
![]() |
I bought a pair of rubber slip on spike shoe things at the bottom for about $15 |
![]() |
There was the odd monkey chilling at the side of the path |
![]() |
There's a small "village" towards the top with a Ryokan, an Onsen, and a restaurant before you hit another set of stairs going up to the monkey park proper. |
![]() |
Monkeys hang out on the walkways and chase each other around |
![]() |
Having caught his prey this monkey begins to feast |
![]() |
A monkey gang-groom |
![]() |
Monkey hugs! |
![]() |
These monkeys are stupid and have mistaken a puddle for a hot spring. |
![]() |
A monkey perched on the edge of the hotspring |
![]() |
The actual hotspring bit from all the photos/that terrible movie |
![]() |
What is best in life? |
![]() |
To sit in a hotspring and be snowed on. |
![]() |
I walked back to Yudanaka, at which time it began snowing . |
![]() |
Much more heavily than the day before. |
![]() |
So it was back to the Onsen for me |
![]() |
To sit in hot water and get snowed on. |
That... horrible... monkey.
