Stuff I've Eaten - Nagasaki & Kyoto

Ramen with salted cod roe.

This place that has a suspiciously Fren-talian name, makes croissants

In the oven of...

the delicate?

KFC garlic butter chicken.
It's kind of like a crap kiev. which is to say, not bad.

Snowman latte

Sushi train place on the 5th floor of the Nagasaki station building.
Hotate.

Aki Ebi.

mini squid.

This beautiful red snapper

Whelk, plus more hotate.

Flounder? plus toro and o-toro

Red sea cucumber.

The hotel in Fukuoka gave me festival themed cookies for living in my own filth.

Consomme

More shelf stable cheese

I thought this was a 3 cheese mix of shelf stable cheese,
but it was either off, or there is fish involved somehow...

Lobster flavoured judging by the picture. Not worth writing home about.

Lemon fizz water. I've had better.

Smoked cheese stick. Requires refrigeration!

Good ol' Orangina

I thought I had bought lemon-lime gin pre-mix.
Turns out it's just lemon-lime gin.

Goes well enough with unsweetened lemon flavoured carbonated water.

Champon, a regional specialty that is a sort of Chinese fusion dish.

Gyoza accompaniment, these aren't fusion-y in the slightest,
but I think they may have just stolen them wholesale from the Chinese
in some sort of Pavlova/Russel Crowe-esque debacle.

The other fusion dish. Invented by the same guy as the first one.
He should have quit while he was ahead.

custard bun

camembert cheese bread

Another one of those "Australian" Chesse buns

Lotte's Ebi-burger

It doesn't look like much.

Nor does it taste like much, but now I've had one.

Pear flavoured mineral water.

A fibre drink. I always realize about 2 weeks into these trips that white rice has basically got zero dietary fiber left in it,
and that it is my whole source of carbs unless I remember to carry an emergency salad or two.

Actual cheese.

Rice crackers for above.

cucumbers in dressing

fake crab

Seaweed salad

Coleslaw

Tako and seaweed salad

A saebo burger, another fusion cuisine from a local US army base.
It's a step up from McDonalds, but not by much.

Berry America Scone

Breakfast hot dog

Sparkling grape juice in mineral water

Lemon fizz water.

root vegetable salad, burdoc maybe?

Orangina with black currant, not as good as the original

convenience store salad dressing sachets.

Convenience store salad.

Egg custard with fish bits.

Kyoto station omakase sushi.

Ice cream and mochi

I spent ages reading the guff in the middle trying to figure out what flavour these are.
How many other ways to determine that can you spot?

Hotel breakfast buffet.

Lemon Coke. Not awful.

Spicy sticks

Radish salad with Okra

Wasabi Beef pringles

Slightly pickled vegetables

More fake crab

Burugaria drinking yoghurt

Bulgaria eating yoghurt

This lemon flavoured water has very little to do with early Lucasarts adventure games.

3-5+ cheese pizza

Ramen

with fried chicken

My spectacular prize

Strawberry water. Tastes of the finest of esters.

Lychee soda

Matcha red bean pudding from the Sev

More salad.
What can I say, as convenient as not pooping for three days can be, it's a sometimes treat.

More sugarless lemon fizz water.

Dr Yellow Bento box

The bento within.
has a very children's meal feel to it (perhaps unsurprisingly).

Green Tea. Rich green tea.

Winter seafoods bento.

  1. the cookies are creepy

Is it mispelling of god of orangina? Perhaps it is some sort of sacrament.

Jess would appreciate the weird pringle flavours, she loves that madness.
