Things I've seen - Sapporo

The trip to Sapporo involved a Shinkansen to Shin-Hakodate station on Hokkaido (the north island), including going through an undersea tunnel for 15 minutes, a trip which is maybe 80% of the distance and takes around 4 hours. You then need to transfer to some sort of dark ages railway that takes 3.5 hours to cover the remaining distance.
Back to the land of the ice and snow.

Shin-Hakodate station. Ain't nothing leaving from track 4.

The train went past the beach at one point.

Sapporo station building.

The long dark icy trek to my hotel.

The children at the school this statue was out the front of presumably took pity on it in the cold.

The view from my hotel doorstep of allegedly the best Ramen place in Sapporo.

Navigating the icy streets without slipping is an acquired skill.
Interestingly some types of brickwork melt the snow faster than others.
No, that's the beautiful part. When wintertime rolls around the homeless simply freeze to death.

Snowing!

The snow can be quite heavy at times, this is from standing outside for less than 30 seconds.

This poor guy on the left has the task of keeping this path outside a shopping center clear.
