This is the picture spot from before, at night
it was snowing pretty heavily and pretty windy by now
There was a light path running down by the canal
It was kind of hard to see
because there was a lot of snow
and the wind was blowing a lot of the candles out
This was probably impressive before they all got blown out
This guy's job was to relight all the candles
(there were actually a couple of teams doing that by the look of it)
Some more ambitious looking lights
This warehouse had a grid of candles across the front, and speakers playing music out across the canal.
At the end of the path there were some food stalls
A table of candles
and some braziers so you could warm yourself up
On the way back it looked a little better as the candle lighting team must have just come through
All these were lit
for now at least, despite their size, they're still just a single candle
This bar had a display of glasses lit up in changing colors
These people seemed to be camped out watching people walk past along the light path
several of their number had already died of exposure it seemed
This place was still selling ice cream at, like, -12 degrees.
Awww, this snowman is powered by love
(until his candle goes out at least)
(until his candle goes out at least)
The start of the path again
and the photo spot. By the time we got back the snow had eased off a fair bit.
There was a second smaller area (the photo of the pillars from the daytime shots)
This girl was dragging her poor beleaguered boyfriend around in the cold and snow while she took photos of a plush anime doll next to various candles
After failing to find any further light paths, it was time to pack it in for the evening.
